Immunisations

Immunisations Explained

Immunisations are a safe and effective way of protecting us against the most serious infections before we come in contact with them in the community.

Immunisations not only protects your child/ yourself, but also others in the community, by reducing the spread of diseases.

At our Practice, we take care of all your immunisations as we record them & remind you when your next one is due.

We provide immunisations and vaccines for young children and also high school vaccinations for years 7-10.

If your child is due for an injection or hasn't had their vaccinations for the scheduled ages, please book an appointment with your Doctor. They can also organise a catch up program.

We also offer a range of travel vaccines. See the next section down for more information.

Immunisations + Young Children

In the first months of life, a baby is protected from some infectious diseases by antibodies transferred from mother to baby during pregnancy. When these antibodies wear off, the baby is at risk of serious infection.

Most childhood immunisations are given as an injection in the arm or leg, except Rotavirus which is administered orally.

Vaccines may protect against one specific disease, or a combination of antigens from several diseases may be administered in the same vaccine. This can help reduce the number of injections your child may need to have.

The current childhood schedule for Victoria is as follows:

  • Vaccines: 6 weeks old, 4 months old and at 6 months old

  • Immunisations: 12 months, 18 months and 4 years old

Immunisations Available Here:

Chickenpox (Varicella)
Haemophilus Influenzae Type b (Hib)
